Moving Day 2015

Talk about luck! Moving Day 2015 went down yesterday, and wholly goodness it was the most gorgeous day!! We completely lucked out… I won’t admit how difficult it was for us to settle on a day with the way the weather has been lately. So, we just gritted our teeth, closed our eyes, and put our finger on the calendar…and stuck with it. And wha’dya know!! Beauty.

The morning started out pretty fun, with an incredibly handy little Bobcat coming to lend a hand. Or a guy with a bobcat coming to lend a hand, rather. [I now thoroughly believe we NEEEEEEED one!!!] {no…not just so Tammy and I can boot around in it…} They are just…pure, concentrated, compact, awesome.

Moving the boat engine and a ski hill rope and various other solid iron oddities took a little more than muscle, so it was a good thing we had the loader or else…ya…they probably wouldn’t of moved far…haha… Then, once those were re-arranged, and we could get the scale out, it was down to the farm equipment.

I have to say though, this sprayer was a doozey…

We didn’t really have the option of picking it up and moving it where it needed to go, so the operator had to scoot and drag this monster out of the shed, and even over one of Paul’s poor bushes; he’s going to come back to find the lawn a little…*ahem*…aerated…

But there were lots of other things we could pick up though, like the fruit press, a few larger ploughs, a fodder chopper, (have you ever tried to carry a fodder chopper? it’s a little ridiculous) …oh, and this potato planter.

So after lunch, we saw our mini army launch into action!! Trucks were hauling, display cases were migrating to-and-fro…and before we knew it, we were almost finished!

Some might say the doughnuts were excellent motivation, but we know that we just have the best most incredible volunteers around. It is such an amazing little community, our museum family… they say it takes a village to raise a child; but I think that is true for organizations like ours too…we could have all the money in the world, but if we didn’t have a supportive community surrounding us, we wouldn’t be much.

So here’s a shout-out to our fantastic volunteers and supporters! We very much appreciate your interest and dedication to helping us continue and succeed, couldn’t do it without you!

Although there is still some small-ish stuff to be finished off, come check out the new arrangement! Hope to see you soon!
