Our first Creston Cultural Collaborators meeting was a huge success! I was only expecting a few people, but we ended up having nine people in attendance.
Together, we came up with a mission statement that will serve to guide our discussions and help us set specific goals:
“Creating unity while embracing diversity and exercising patience with cultural adjustment.”
After that, we were able to come up with some preliminary goals, including but not limited to:
- Translating the museum pamphlets into French, Ktunaxa, Spanish, German, and Mandarin
- Host an international potluck dinner
- Create a new exhibit that will share the stories of Creston’s underrepresented communities
At the next meeting (to be held Saturday March 7th from 2-4pm) one of our members will facilitate a workshop on collaboration. After that, we will take a tour through the museum and gather ideas for our future Cultural Collaborators exhibit!
Sound like something that interests you? Then please, come on out. As always, the event is free of charge and open to the public.
