The Great Father’s Day Logging Arch Challenge
June 16 @ 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM
This is a logging arch. It’s a horse-drawn log-skidding machine. It has ten-foot-high wheels and weighs about two thousand pounds. Think you could load it with logs and drag it through an obstacle course?
Just kidding! We’ll use the scale-model replica instead. It’s just two-and-a-half feet high and weighs about forty pounds – but it can skid a decent-sized log.
So here’s the challenge: Load the model logging arch with a log, using a peavey, cant hook, and/or log tongs – but not your hands. Then pull the logging arch through an obstacle course without hitting any of the obstacles, bring it back to the starting point, and unload the log.
Put your team of two to four people together and come on down to the Creston Museum on Father’s Day for the Great Father’s Day Logging Arch Challenge!
Your team can consist of anyone you want, of any age, as long as at least one person on your team is a father (though not necessarily the father of anyone else on the team!). Everyone on your team has to help in the challenge in some way (how is up to you). We’ll award points for precision, deduct them for running over an obstacle, and give you a whole lot of credit for style and/or skill – and in the event of a tie in points, then we’ll use speed to determine the winner.
It’s just $10 to enter your team, and all proceeds will go towards rebuilding the big logging arch!
Sunday, June 16 (Father’s Day, of course), 2:00 PM at the Creston Museum
