LiveHistory is a touring theatre company that presents site-specific workshops and performances in museums and historic sites around the world. We hosted them at the Creston Museum in 2017 and 2018, and it was so much fun we’re bringing them back!
Workshops include live performance snippets from their shows and a question and answer session. Workshops are customized to local history and are suitable for groups of all ages, from 8 to 108. We’re making them available to schools, seniors’ groups, day cares, and youth groups.
Choose from two workshop themes:
Mystery Building: Fans of mystery novels, shows and theatre will learn how to build a mystery while learning about local history in a way they have never seen it before. Build a mystery to stump friends and family, or learn how to become a sleuth during your favourite mystery programs! The mysteries include lessons in math, patterns, language and visual arts. Duration: 60 minutes.
Site-Specific Theatre: Participants will learn from industry experts in a unique style of performance, using the space around them to create small, intimate theatre productions brimming with realism. This piece will tell the stories of their town, their history, and their local historical celebrities. Duration: 60 minutes.
Capacity: Maximum 60 participants per workshop. Two or more smaller classes/groups can be combined, provided the entire group spans no more than four grade levels. Note: Only one age group and one theme can be accommodated per workshop.
Availability: Friday, June 12. Four workshops are scheduled, and slight adjustments to start times may be possible to accommodate your group/class schedule. As we receive bookings, we will update the following list of workshop times, themes, and age groups:
