DESCRIPTION:Doing chores the old-fashioned way \nEvery year\, the Creston Lions Club organizes a Children’s Picnic at Centennial Park during Blossom Festtival…and every year\, the Creston Museum is there with hands-on activities and games. Will we bring the apple-packing relay race? Or the pioneer clothes for dress-up? Maybe it will be the laundry bucket and scrub board – or maybe we’ll be making old-fashioned ice cream! It’s something new every year\, so come on down and check it out! \nAdmission to the Children’s Picnic is free – sponsored by the Creston Lions Club. SUMMARY:Farm Trucks and Transport
DESCRIPTION:1947 Maple Leaf flat-deck truck donated to the Creston Museum\, Creston BC\, by Lloyd Bell. \nTrucks are pretty much the last thing that comes to mind when we think about farming\, but they were everywhere. Faster and more road-worthy than tractors\, able to go much longer distances than horses: trucks were\, from a very early period in Creston Valley’s history\, the number-one way of getting all the valley’s agricultural production to market. \nJoin us as we celebrate this often-overlooked aspect of local farming. The Creston Museum has two farm trucks of its own: a 1921 Model T one-ton\, and a 1947 Maple Leaf three-ton. Both are in running condition and will be featured front-and-centre this weekend! We also have half-a-dozen antique farm tractors\, and we’re working on rounding up other vintage farm vehicles.
