Orange Shirt Day – the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation – is coming up on Tuesday, September 30.
If you’re looking for ways to observe the day, here are a couple of suggestions:
Yaqak Nuki Peoples’ Heritage Society has a feature exhibit at Legend Logos, exploring the experiences of Yaqan Nuki children at St. Eugene School near Cranbrook. It particularly highlights the experiences of Isabel Godman Louie (left).
And here at the Creston Museum, we’ve created a temporary exhibit in our own schoolhouse to reflect the experience of First Nations children at Residential Schools in general.
We invite you to explore both exhibits. The Yaqan Nuki exhibit is open September 27-30 at Legend Logos, 3560 Highway 21.
The Museum is open Saturday, September 27, and Tuesday, September 30, 10:00 – 4:00.
