The Creston Museum is seeking qualified contractors to provide estimates for renovating our public washroom to full accessibility standards. This project is part of our ongoing commitment to creating a welcoming, inclusive, and barrier‑free experience for all visitors.
Project Overview:
We are planning upgrades that include:
- Toilet and plumbing upgrades
- Accessible fixtures and hardware including grab bars and support features
- Barrier‑free sink and counter design
- Widened doorway and improved circulation space
- Non-slip flooring
- Improved lighting and ventilation
Renovations must conform as closely as possible to BC Building Code Accessibility Standards: BCBC 2024 Illustrated Guide on Accessibility
Timeline:
- Any necessary exploratory work must be completed in March-April 2026
- Return washroom to use for the summer season, early May to mid-September
- Renovation work takes place between October 2026 and February 2027
We are looking for contractors with experience in: Accessibility renovations; Commercial or public‑use washroom upgrades; Working with stone construction; Working in heritage or community‑based facilities (an asset, but not required)
