Casey’s Junior’s coming down the track, coming down the track, Casey Junior’s back…
I’ve had the lyrics from the little Disney song running through my head all day because….
Our little model railway is open again!
We had to close it down due to COVID-19, and since it’s such a confined little space, figuring out how to make it accessible again has been, well, a bit of a challenge. But with the help of a fan (the air moving kind) and a little cooperation from our fans (the visitor kind), we think we’ve got it now!
The Model Railway is open throughout the Museum’s hours: Tuesday through Saturday, 10:00 – 4:00. Appointments are not necessary, but we are only allowing one group at a time in there – so if you come to see it while another group is in, we’ll have to ask you to wait a few minutes (but we have plenty of other stuff to look at while you do!). Our staff member will go into the room, get the trains running, then come out again. You can go in, enjoy the trains for as long as you want, and when you leave our staff member will go in again to turn them off. Then we’ll wipe everything down and get ready for the next group! Admission, to the trains and the rest of the Museum, is by donation.

We know a lot of people are sticking close to home this year, and we’re doing our best to help make that an enjoyable and rewarding choice. You know all those local things you keep saying you should do “someday?” Well, someday is here. So here’s a quick reminder of some of the other things we’ve got going on:
Museum About Town: Downtown tours, cemetery tours, residential-area tours – if you want to explore the community, we can help. By appointment, Wednesday through Saturday.
Family Fun: Interactive, creative, exploratory, and as hands-on-as-possible ways to investigate the local story. By appointment, Wednesday through Saturday.
Inside the Elevator: we’re working with Kunze Gallery and Columbia Basin Trust to help you explore the history of the local grain industry and learn how a grain elevator works. By appointment, Wednesday through Saturday.
Coffee Patio: Wednesday and Saturday mornings, join us for a socially distanced opportunity to talk about…something. What weird and wonderful object will we pull out of the storage areas this week?
Click on the links above to learn more about each of these programs, and give us a shout at 250-428-9262 or crestonmuseum@telus.net to book one exclusively for your group!
