Locomotive Refresh!

The little narrow-gauge locomotive that welcomes visitors at the front gate of the Museum has been getting some much-needed TLC these past few weeks! His cab was falling off, and he was looking pretty decrepit there for a while!

But, last summer, we had to take some cedar trees down for safety, and we milled the logs into the lumber we needed to rebuild the locomotive. Over the last few weeks, Jim, Vince, Skip, and Bruce have been busily building a new cab and painting both cab and engine – he looks great now!

Another coat of paint, then the side rails go back along the length of the engine (that’s what’s on the sawhorses in front of the locomotive in the photo above), then just a couple little touch-ups and he will be done!
