Love growing things but don’t have a garden of your own?
We have plenty to share!
Garden Gurus are volunteers who help plan, plant, and maintain the gardens at the Creston Museum. There are lots to choose from – heirloom vegetables, indigenous plants, traditional English-style gardens, boxes full of annuals, even a low-maintenance rock-and-shrub garden and quite possibly a Victory garden. Not only do you play a big role in the beauty of the grounds, you can also help us share important messages – like the role of pollinators and the importance of local food security. And, because we’re open to the public, there’s always the possibility that you’ll have a chance to visit with visitors!
We provide the basic tools and – within our budget – the plants and fertilizer and other stuff. We even have people to help with the heavy lifting, if that’s a bit more than you can handle. You provide the time and expertise for planting, weeding, deadheading, and even harvesting!
We’re COVID-conscious! Work alone or with others in your own personal social bubble. It’s all outdoors and we can maintain social distances. If you use the tools we provide, they’re yours for the hour (or day, or however long you’re there), and we sanitize them all between uses.
Spring is just around the corner – contact us today to join us for the 2021 season! tammy@crestonmuseum.ca or 250-428-9262.
