Whether the weather be cold, whether the weather be hot…

One thing you can always be sure of is there will be weather, and you can be almost as sure that we’re going to be talking about it. It’s too hot. It’s too cold. We haven’t seen snow/rain/wind like this since last summer/we were kids/1963. It’s the reason we’re late for work or we skipped the morning jog.

But is the weather really the same – or as different – as we remember?

Here at the Creston Museum, we have gone through one hundred and six years worth of weather records – that’s nearly 40,000 lines of data – and condensed it all down to about a dozen graphs and tables. We’ve found the ten hottest days, the ten coldest days, the ten wettest days. We’ve tracked a century’s worth of rainfall (and lack of rainfall); decades of daily temperatures. We’ve compared yesteryear’s weather to this year’s weather.

And we’ve put it all up on the wall so you can decide for yourself whether we have ever seen weather like this before.
